Wireless systems and interference avoidance

چکیده
Motivated by the emergence of programmable radios, we seek to understand a new class of communication system where pairs of transmitters and receivers can adapt their modulation/demodulation method in the presence of interference to achieve better performance. Using signal to interference ratio as a metric and a general signal space approach, we present a class of iterative distributed algorithms for synchronous systems which results in an ensemble of optimal waveforms for multiple users connected to a common receiver (or co-located independent receivers). That is, the waveform ensemble meets the Welch Bound with equality and therefore achieves minimum average interference over the ensemble of signature waveforms. We derive fixed points for a number of scenarios, provide examples, look briefly at ensemble stability under user addition and deletion as well as provide a simplistic comparison to synchronous CDMA. We close with suggestions for future work. Currently with AT&T.

Interference Avoidance for Wireless Systems with Multiple Receivers
OF THE DISSERTATION Interference Avoidance for Wireless Systems with Multiple Receivers by Otilia Popescu Dissertation Director: Professor Christopher Rose Interference avoidance is a class of adaptive modulation techniques in which, with feedback from the receiver, a transmitting radio is instructed to vary its waveform so as to maximize the signalto-interference plus noise-ratio. For an ensem...

This paper proposes an interference avoidance technique that allows wireless device with similar frequency bands to be operated adjacent to each other for compact mobile wireless routers (MWRs). This MWR implements two devices of Wireless LAN (WLAN) and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX). The MWR connects WLAN terminals to the backbone network by using WiMAX-WLAN relay. متن کاملGreedy Interference Avoidance in Non-Collaborative Multi-Base Wireless Systems
In this paper we present application of greedy interference avoidance to wireless systems with multiple bases which do not collaborate or exchange information. We start with a simple system consisting of two users and two base stations for which we formally state a greedy interference avoidance algorithm and show that its application converges to a simultaneous water filling solution which is a...

متن کاملA Radio Resource Allocation Scheme for Fixed Broadband Wireless Access Systems with Avoidance of Major Interferers
An improved radio resource allocation scheme with avoidance of major interferers is proposed and analyzed for the downlink of Fixed Broadband Wireless Access (FBWA) systems with full frequency reuse. The scheme is based on Enhanced Staggered Resource Allocation (ESRA) and permits the enhancement of the throughput per sector. Simulation results show a maximum downlink throughput per sector in ex...
متن کاملMultiple-Antenna Interference Cancellation for WLAN with MAC Interference Avoidance in Open Access Networks
The potential of multiantenna interference cancellation receiver algorithms for increasing the uplink throughput inWLAN systems such as 802.11 is investigated. The medium access control (MAC) in such systems is based on carrier sensing multiple-access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA), which itself is a powerful tool for the mitigation of intrasystem interference. However, due to the spatial d...
